In our real estate contracts verbiage is included which places the responsibility for school research with the buyers. Agents legally are not allowed to guide their clients to certain school districts for discrimination reasons. I have included links below which should help you research school information relevant to the location of your prospective new home.
If San Mateo County is your probable destination, you might begin your search with the San Mateo County Office of Education (www.smcoe.k12.ca.us). Scroll down the side bar to For Students and Parents in the San Mateo County site. Keywords are usually boundary or district which you help you identify the exact school appropriate to the grade level of your children and location of your possible new home. Usually a specific address can be entered helping to determine the exact school for that location.
If Santa Clara County is your probable destination, you might begin your search with the Santa Clara County Office of Education www.sccoe.k12.us). If you are searching for the elementary school district and the high school district relevant to the grade levels of your children, scroll to Resources for Families in the side menu with Santa Clara County,
These two county sites also provide you with School Accountability Report Cards, SARCS, which are required by state and federal law. They are intended to provide you with important information about your child’s school and district. The SARC includes information on demographics, school safety, class sizes, teacher and staff information, curriculum and instruction descriptions and fiscal data. The link to this report can be found at the bottom of the San Mateo County Office of Education home page, and further down the page on the Santa Clara County Office of Education Resources of Families page.
The API (Academic Performance Index) report is another valuable information tool. The Academic Performance Index (API) is an annual measure of the academic performance and progress of schools in California. API scores range from 200 to 1,000, with a statewide target of 800. Detailed information about the API can be found at the CDE Web site at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ap/ An example of a particular school district is: http://california.privateschoolsreport.com/schools/CA/RedwoodCity.html |
